SkyDome 01

With the vaults in place, I thought I would try some new lighting set ups. This shot started with a large array of very dim lights pointed into the center of the shot. (aka a SkyDome) This technique works well for this type of situation. The problem was that it takes hours to render a single frame. I began trimming down the number of lights in the array. I started with 101 and I'm down to 21 in this set up. The street lamps create the key light for this shot. I might want to bring some more fog back to the scene.

Changing the ground from cement and cobble stones, to overgrown stone paths, will help a lot. I also plan to add a few more crypts to help fill out the set, especially for this shot.

I still have to figure out how to get the render times down. Even with trimming down the number of lights in the SkyDome, this image still took hours to render. Considering that it takes 30 of those for one second of film, well lets just say I have to figure something out.
